Database consistency check found consistency errors on a partitioned table in a production database. The table was partitioned by day, and the partition affected was with data from the previous day. The database was large, and data was constantly added to the database.
Managed to minimize downtime for the database. Updating data from restored DB for the partition with integrity issues was not possible, as every change of corrupt data resulted in an error. Using partition switching, I was able to move data for the partition that had integrity issues, from the restored database to the production database. It is a metadata-only operation, and it is very fast.
There was a need to migrate all databases from a SQL Server instance to a new Windows server. The project was a complex task, as all the databases were in production, they were large, and the downtime had to be minimized. Logins and permissions had to stay the same as in the old instance. Managed to move all logins with permissions, system databases, user databases, SQL Server Agent jobs, and linked servers to the new instance. I created all the migration scripts for logins with permissions and jobs. For the database migration, the choice was to temporarily set database mirroring and to failover with minimal downtime.
The business need was to add new reports, as the legacy app that had reporting integrated was no longer maintained. Utilized SQL Server Reporting Services to create, and deploy a completely new reporting solution, using data from the existing database. Data in the database had to be analyzed, and correct data to be used in the new reports.
