The project involved the development of a software solution for an agriculture startup based in Spain using the AWS platform to automatically analyze Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite images. The process is based in S3, SQS, Lambda, and DynamoDB with the objective to calculate different useful indexes that allow us to see the degree of vegetation and humidity among others. I used Python in the Lambda processes that take different responsibilities from downloading the satellite images to S3 and then calculated the minimal possible area that needs to be loaded into memory to calculate those indexes for our customer’s fields. Finally, another lambda can return these indexes as numerical matrixes using Numpy to use in other calculations or generate images with different degrees of color to help the customer identify areas that can have problems that need addressing.
The project was developing a solution based on AWS for a small startup when I was working in Hong Kong. It needed to show IoT sensor readings from their devices as dashboards to their customers. For this, I worked first by cleaning the sensor data using Lambda processes using Python that is triggered on a schedule. The data was stored in Aurora and then I created different dashboards using AWS QuickSight so that the customers could access the information very quickly and in an automatic way.
During the years 2013-2014 I was working in AXA based in Barcelona (I joined back in 2003) and at that time I was assigned to the newly formed mobile division with the objective to build a Proof of Concept app to release to the public first in Belgium, France, and Spain. I developed this initial prototype in Android together with other developers and after a successful first test we went on to build an iOS version. After this, I took charge to industrialize the mobile CI/CD platform, which I finished by 2014 and got offered a temporary position in Hong Kong to help define the mobile strategy in the Asia Region. After working in collaboration with teams in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, The Philippines, Hong Kong, and Mainland China, and presenting the strategy, I decided to transfer to the Hong Kong company and stayed for 4 years until the division was moved to Manila. During this time I helped distribute mobile applications in the Asia Region while working not only with the teams in Asia but also with the teams back in Europe (France and Spain). I also helped with the communication of KPI using Tableau dashboards.
