Tomislav is a data expert with a wealth of experience pursuing his passion for creating immersive data visualizations and maps. He translates his solid geospatial background and GIS expertise into designing and developing custom maps using D3.js and Mapbox, building various desktop GIS applications, and implementing data analytics and data wrangling. Tomislav is also experienced in cross-functional team management, running end-to-end recruiting and screening processes, and as a product owner, using people analytics methods and tools to make data-driven and goal-focused decisions.
Built desktop and web applications, mobile mapping applications for data acquisition, and customized GIS solutions based on JavaScript/HTML, C#/.Net, Java, Intergraph GeoMedia product family, and open-source GIS technologies (FOSS4G), Oracle, and Oracle Spatial.
Designed and developed a mobile data collection application with a real-time field GPS location, photo, and attribute data collection.
Manipulated spatial data and created cartographic presentations and visualizations.
Designed and developed a map that complements the project, trying to estimate the economic and social cost of crime. The first step was wrangling the data to get the best performance while keeping the dataset as extensive and detailed as possible. The next step was to optimize data visualizations and create dynamic heatmaps that change as we change time. Finally, implemented lazy loading of Big Data sets in the background.
With an accompanying map visualization, a web application can convert GPS coordinates from WGS84 to Gauss–Krüger projections and vice versa. The tool is written in pure JavaScript and relies on two open-source projects: Mapbox for cartography and Proj4js for actual transformation calculations. No server-side scripts were used.
A concept for a mobile application that functions as a travel diary that can represent and share emotional connections to music and places. The application includes integration with social networks, music streaming services, geolocation with map pins that save every song and current local weather information, and the ability to attach photos taken during a road trip.
