Hugo has over 20 years of experience working on projects for Google, Etsy, Anthem, McAffee, Facebook, American Express, Symantec, Deutsche Telekom, HBO, Showtime, Marvel Studios, Netflix, and US FedRAMP. He loves automation and working with the latest technologies. DevOps before DevOps is a statement associated with Hugo's career.
Helped move a healthcare organization's customer portal from a data center to AWS.
Set up a self-healing infrastructure using Terraform across three AWS regions.
Led the design of a CI/CD process for a new microservice architecture using the latest Kubernetes technologies.
Worked on planning, implementation, and best practices for Google Anthos upgrades for GKE on-prem.
Migrated 250 repositories from CircleCI to Buildkite for an American self-driving car company.
Migrated from AWS to GCP Terraform. Worked on Google Cloud Foundation presentations with stakeholders and the logging and security architectural planning for an American television provider.
Worked on the zero-downtime infrastructure and chaos engineering implementation for one of the largest eCommerce sites.
Collaborated directly with AKS engineers to produce a cost-effective Terraform template for Kubernetes deployments in Azure.
Worked on a team to provision an Apigee hybrid solution in an on-prem environment using Google Anthos.
Managed a small, fast-moving team supporting 200+ developers building a web conferencing SaaS platform.
Moved existing web conferencing SaaS platform from AppLogic to CI/CD with EC2 and Chef in 2015.
Moved web conferencing platform from being managed by Chef to a Docker/Kubernetes solution in 2017.
Moved all legacy web conferencing and audio PBX applications to a globally distributed Kubernetes environment in 2018.
Participated in an on-call 24x7 rotation for debugging both build pipeline and production infrastructure issues acting as the technical escalation lead.
Worked with several globally distributed scrum teams as a technical lead.
Managed the implementation of over 250 AD farms including the creation automation, monitoring, and disaster recovery suites to support all clients effectively with only three AD resources.
Automated all monitoring, alerting, and exception processes at over 300 client sites from one centralized command console using a combination of SRSS, AutoIT, Powershell, C#, and custom built monitoring systems.
Implemented standardized ITIL procedures across the managed services team to the project services team.
Integrated Kaseya Management Software, Sonicwall GMS, Plesk, MXLogic SaaS Email, and ShoreTel Phone System to grab up to the minute billable users/host counts for accounting.
Wrote custom applications which manage and monitor 250 instances of Exchange across all clients managed by inhouseIT.
The Annenberg Foundation was asked in early 2016 to be part of the initial Facebook Live launch. As one of the initial 12 partners for the launch, Annenberg reached out for my expertise in building scalable live video streaming applications and infrastructure. With over 125 global live video streams running 24x7, the solution was built out using a micro-service architecture on continuous integration and continuous deployment platform. Since the initial launch, the platform has grown to over 200 live streams spanning four continents built on top of Kubernetes.
Lego World Builder lets users propose story worlds, characters, and other ideas by uploading concept art, videos, and descriptions. I led the DevOps initiative from the ground-up and implemented Terraform for infrastructure as code. Kubernetes is running on Amazon EKS and DroneCI was used for CI/CD. I built out the CI/CD pipelines and custom Drone plugins for EKS written in Golang and implemented Prometheus Operator using infrastructure as code for alerting and slack integration. Grafana custom dashboards were also implemented in code. Lastly, I created custom bootstrap scripts for disaster recovery
