Managed and maintained software applications and programs, finding and implementing solutions to existing and potential problems.
Developed a tool geologists use to run a “play-based” analysis for the prospective development of oil/gas fields (i.e., part of the deciding factor where future exploratory drills will be undertaken). The product used to be based on ESRI’s ArcMap application (as an add-in). With the release of ESRI’s ArcPro and the announcement that ArcMap would no longer be developed, it was decided to future-proof the product by migrating it to the new platform. It was a one-year full-time undertaking, completed within the estimated boundaries. Developed all migratory code and rewrote the UI, maintaining most of the core business logic and keeping up with the ongoing development of the product. The product is now in use by virtually all oil & gas super majors. Technologies used: C#, Python, ArcMap, ArcPro.
Player is a tool geologists use to run a “play-based” analysis for the prospective development of oil/gas fields (i.e., part of the deciding factor where future exploratory drills will be undertaken). PlayHouse sits on top of this for management users to “look into” these projects to make decisions about prospective drills. Developed most of the front-end and back-end code. Bridged legacy back-end software to a modern web application, abstracting technical details away so that the management can make decisions on projects without knowing or understanding all the details. The product is now in use by several oil & gas super majors.
Led the development of a large-scale web scraping project and data analysis product, bringing the product to market. It automatically analyses websites, derives scores about the websites, and allows for human enrichment and control of the resulting data. The product is in use (API integrated in product offerings) by several well-known social networks to notify users about the quality of externally linked web sources (e.g., fake-news warnings). Technologies used: Ruby, Ruby on Rails, AWS Lambda, Python, Scrapy, Splash, Node, Docker.
