ChopinTrack is a parcel tracking and financial system. It automates the creation of parcel batches through the upload of an MS Excel file or posting data to a WebService, generates tracking number and related QR code for parcel scanning and tracking, provides a friendly user interface to visualize the lifecycle of each parcel, automatically handles double-entry bookkeeping (i.e. billing, costing, accounts receivables, accounts payables, etc) for all stages of the process and provides a dashboard that displays relevant information depending on the user’s profile. I was tasked with gathering system requirements through several meetings with business experts and stakeholders. Designed the system architecture and developed both back-end and front-end sides of the application. Developed a solid financial module using my previous experience with ERP systems and deployed the application to Microsoft Azure. Managed to achieve an effective system design allowed to reach the production stage ahead of schedule and successfully integrated a variety of system layers and functionalities throughout project iterations. Technologies used in the project: Node.js, React.js, Material-UI, PostgreSQL and Microsoft Azure.

Chopinmol.com is an e-commerce platform based on the open-source project Prestashop. The platform is used as an online marketplace in Guatemala serving merchants and customers across the country. In order for the platform to meet business requirements and also country regulations (such as electronic invoicing), several modifications were made to the system’s core and multiple back-end and front-end components were developed. I customized the core functionality of the open-source e-commerce platform Prestashop to fulfill business requirements. Developed several back end components and modules to interact with third-party systems such as payment gateway, electronic invoice, supplier inventory, purchase order generation, etc. Developed a front-end theme with a responsive design. Led junior developers doing development work on store modules and managed to enhance and maintain core functionality of the large codebase. Created an efficient Cloud architecture in Microsoft Azure that supported thousands of users and hundreds of transactions. The project was launched to production and serves more than five thousand users on peak days. Technologies used in the project: PHP, JavaScript, Smarty, MySQL, Docker, and Microsoft Azure.

The recruitment system for military and police officers was built on top of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system known in the United Nations as “Nova”. The purpose of the system is to automate the recruitment process which consists of the following activities: create recruitment campaigns, disseminate job openings across all 193 countries members of the UN, record applicants and their profiles, conduct vetting process and conclude with selection or rejection of candidates. I gathered system requirements and teamed up with a Software Architect to design the solution. Developed back-end and front-end components of the system and worked on project iterations after launch. Managed to create system workflows that allowed several offices to participate and collaborate in the recruitment process according to their roles and scope of work. The portal was successfully launched and it is used to this date by hiring managers at UNHQ to recruit military and police officers across the 193 countries that are part of the UN. Technologies used in the project: ColdFusion, JavaScript, and Microsoft SQL.
